We kicked off the Spring 2019 semester with spring recruitment, where we hosted an ice cream social, a get to know ZTA speed date, kiosked for our philanthropy with Hope Rocks, and had a blast at our karaoke party! Kailynn P did an amazing job with spring recruitment and we were able to accept nine lovely new members into our sisterhood who were initiated in March.

In February, along with our women’s basketball team here at Mason, we sponsored and hosted this year’s Pink-Out Basketball Game. Everyone wears pink (including the pep band and Women’s Team), we recognize survivors of our community by walking them out onto the court during half time and play a ZTA philanthropy. We are the only Mason Organization with a Mason Athletics partnership.

This past semester, we took part in many service projects. This includes, helping our local alumna chapter with their sock drive, gathering feminine products for donation and promoting well-being at well-being day with the Mason community.  We are so proud to say that at this year’s Greek Week, our team was able to raise over $7,500 for Shelter House, a local organization for violence victims and homelessness, coming in at first place out of all of the teams for donations.

Our largest philanthropy event of the semester was held in early April. Zeta Bowl is a flag football tournament which other organizations can sign up to play the bracket. This year, we opened it up to women’s organizations and our own Zeta team took home the prize! We were able to raise $600 surpassing our goal of $500. All of the money went towards our national philanthropy foundation for breast cancer education and awareness.

While our sisterhood worked hard this semester, we also had a great time together. Our lovely Sisterhood Chair, Jenny M., hosted a sisterhood gathering every week! We had events with alumna thanks to our special Alumna Chair, Angela M. We are ending the semester with Spring Formal thanks to Miranda K., this year’s theme is Masquerade Ball. Finally, we are sad to send our beautiful seniors off but beyond excited to see what is coming for them!
