Involvement
We kicked off the Spring 2019 semester with spring recruitment, where we hosted an ice cream social, a get to know ZTA speed date, kiosked for our philanthropy with Hope Rocks, and had a blast at our karaoke party!
In February, along with our women’s basketball team here at Mason, we sponsored and hosted this year’s Pink-Out Basketball Game. Everyone wears pink (including the pep band and Women’s Team), we recognize survivors of our community by walking them out onto the court during half time and play a ZTA philanthropy. We are the only Mason Organization with a Mason Athletics partnership.
This past semester, we took part in many service projects. This includes, helping our local alumna chapter with their sock drive, gathering feminine products for donation and promoting well-being at well-being day with the Mason community. We are so proud to say that at this year’s Greek Week, our team was able to raise over $7,500 for Shelter House, a local organization for violence victims and homelessness, coming in at first place out of all of the teams for donations.
Our largest philanthropy event of the semester was held in late October 2019 for Breast Cancer Awareness month, called Big Man On Camus, most famously known by BMOC! Many organizations from all over campus at George Mason University came out to the best night of the year and helped us raise more than $5,000 to Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. Our Big Man On Campus was crowned, Avory from Phi Beta Sigma Incorporated! ♛
